Origins & Primordial Genealogies

The Greek mythic narrative begins in Hesiod’s Theogony with Chaos—a gap of void out of which emerged Gaia (Earth), Tartarus (the Abyss), and Eros (Desire). Gaia birthed Ouranos (Sky), leading to the golden age of Titans under Cronus, which eventually collapsed during the fierce ten-year Titanomachy war.

The Twelve Olympians

After overthrown Saturnian Titan forces were cast into Tartarus, Zeus and his siblings divided the cosmos. Zeus claimed the skies, Poseidon ruled the seas, and Hades inherited the subterranean realm of shades.

Zeus

King of Gods / Thunder

Wielder of the Thunderbolt, ruler of Mount Olympus, guardian of hospitality (Xenia) and order.

Athena

Wisdom & Strategy

Born fully armed from Zeus's head. Patron of Athens, craftwork, defensive warfare, and heroic counsel.

Poseidon

Seas & Earthquakes

Master of the Trident, creator of horses, and controller of ocean storms and tectonic ruptures.

Apollo

Sun, Music & Prophecy

Leader of the Muses, master of the Delphic Oracle, archer, and god of light and healing art.

Sacred Hellenic Topography

In our spatial GIS mapping, major sacred sanctuaries line up with key geological anomalies across ancient Greece: Delphi (the navel of the earth / Omphalos), Mount Olympus (rising 2,917 meters above the Thermaic Gulf), Eleusis (site of Mystery Rites), and Delos (birthplace of Apollo and Artemis).
